Additional Details

Only one of the images of President McKinely in Chester is dated (1897). However, the image depicting the Spanish prisoners on Seavey's Island must date to the following year. They were likely the approximately 1600 men captured from the armored cruiser Cristobal Colon during the Battle of Santiago de Cuba (July 1898) in the short-lived Spanish American War.
