(NEW ROCHELLE, NEW YORK)
A vast typological archive of more than 700 photographs depicting the town of New Rochelle that was, apparently, shot and compiled by an avid local resident.
This exhaustive and detailed archive documents the streets, businesses, residential neighborhoods, and topography of this Westchester hamlet, primarily during the transformative decade of the 1960s. Silver prints, the images measuring approximately 3x4 1/2 inches (7.6x11.4 cm.), and the reverse, the sheets slightly larger, most with a printed date, in the margin, on recto, and with a notation documenting the location and date, in ink, on verso; some duplicates. Most enclosed in three period albums, square and tall 4tos, two with metal clasp rings, inserted into plastic sleeves. 1961-67

WITH--Additional ephemeral materials and postcards, as well as photographs dating to earlier decades that were either collected or made by the same amateur historian and documentarian; some of these in the binders, and others enclosed in envelopes with the original owner's notations.
