Map was originally published in 1831 for Mitchell''s first atlas (A New American Atlas). It was also issued in pocket map format the same year. Subsequent editions had very minor changes, generally in the vignette(s). This edition is from the altered 1831 plate, with the map number (5) engraved in the upper right corner.
