A rare example of prolific and talented 19th-century view-maker Edwin Whitefield's "Original Views of North American Cities". The perspective is a straight ahead linear view of Williamsburg as its own city, independent of Brooklyn, with locations such as Latham's Steam Saw Mill, Meyer & Poppenhusen's Whalebone Factory, John Ferrall's Alcohol Distillery, Peck Slip Ferry, Schol's Brimstone Factory and the U.S. Naval Hospital noted in the numbered key below the image.
