(NEW YORK CITY.) Correspondence file relating to the Flushing Creek railroad bridges. More than 300 pages in 3 folders; condition generally strong, a few leaves worn. Vp, 1920-59

Additional Details

Correspondence of the United States Engineers Office relating to two drawbridges across the Flushing Creek in Queens: one along Roosevelt Avenue carrying the subway's 7-line and another carrying the Long Island Railroad's Port Washington branch. The bridges were often closed to accommodate freight along the river, much to the consternation of the thousands of commuters who were delayed.
