Additional Details

Early original manuscript map by noted New York City Surveyor Adolphus Loss outlining plots of Soho real estate squared by Mercer Street, Grand Street, Broadway, and Hester Street (now Howard Street). Loss was presumably commissioned to survey the property for Mrs. Aston in order to sell the lots individually and has divided it into 22 shares, each 25x100 feet. The shifted sense of real estate in lower Manhattan since 1811 is persuasively reflected by the appearance of the original "House" at the lower right corner, currently the site of a Duane Reade and Yoga Works studio.
