Additional Details

The partnership of Murray & Paton served as agents for cargo between New York and Glasgow, Scotland until their liquidation in 1856. The importation of whiskey from Scotland seems to have comprised a large portion of their business, but the letters also occasionally discuss shipments of turpentine, tar, and other undrinkables.
