The Lincoln Tunnel, originally the Midtown Hudson Tunnel, connects midtown Manhattan with Weehawken, NJ. It was designed by Ole Singstad. Construction began in 1934, and was opened to traffic in 1937. Most of the documents in this binder are comparative tables of bids received from contractors for specific portions of the project, with some tables of per-foot cost estimates. Also includes include a photostat of tunnel profile drawings titled "New Jersey Rock Tunnel, Alternative Designs," 1 March 1934; a large blue-line print titled "Lincoln Tunnel, Record Drawing of South Tunnel Movement," 10 June 1938; and a 5-page inventory of the project equipment at one contractor's Flatbush yard.
