(NEW YORK CITY.) Solovioff, Nicholas. 5 original renderings of the construction of the World Trade Center. Watercolor paintings on paper, each about 13 x 20 inches; minor wear, numbered on verso. New York and New Jersey, February 1970

Additional Details

Solovioff was the official artist of the Port of New York Authority, and did a series of paintings of the early construction of the World Trade Center towers. One depicts the exposed girders of one of the towers under construction, and another appears to depict the antenna. The other three document an unusual obstacle faced by the construction crew in February of 1970. A tugboat strike halted the usual system of bringing girders to the site by boat. After efforts to use helicopters failed, the massive girders were trucked through the Lincoln Tunnel.
