Additional Details

A charmingly naive unsigned historical view of Brooklyn and Staten Island. The consignor was told that it was originally used as a fireplace screen. The original source image was an 1838 engraving of the same title after an illustration by William Henry Bartlett. The view is from Brooklyn's Fort Hamilton (completed in 1836), looking across the water to Staten Island. The Verrazano-Narrows Bridge would dominate this view if drawn today.
