Additional Details

A rare and unusual perspective of Brooklyn's mid-nineteenth century industrial waterfront. The view looks south from the Navy Yards along the East River and into the Upper Bay focusing on Vinegar Hill, Brooklyn Heights, Cobble Hill, Red Hook, diminishing into Bay Ridge and Staten Island. Several wooden dwellings populate the foreground; Borough Hall is centrally located, with inlets, houses and manufacturing smokestacks surrounding it. Governor's Island as well as the lower portion of Manhattan complete the scene. Reps, Views and Viewmakers 2454; Eno Collection 460.
