Additional Details

The Holland Tunnel connecting Manhattan with Jersey City was begun under chief engineer Clifford Milburn Holland. It was finished by Ole Singstad, who had designed the innovative ventilation system for this project. The one 1938 photograph in the binder bears an Ole Singstad inked stamp on verso, along with a photographer credit to C. Johnson. The others are unattributed. Provenance: Gift from Singstad to engineer and collector Gerald J. Levy. with--15 additional unbound photographs of various Singstad projects (some of them copy prints), 1930-40 and undated.
