Additional Details

Anastasio Somoza DeBayle (1925-1980) was the long-time president of Nicaragua, following his father and brother in a family dictatorship that extended from 1935 until leftist Sandinista rebels took power in 1979. In the last months of his presidency, Somoza worked with American author Jack Cox to write an English-language memoir. He was in exile in Paraguay when it was released, and then soon afterward was assassinated. Offered here is a collection kept by Cox from the memoir project.
Includes: Photograph of Somoza, signed in pen "ASomoza 1979" Nicaraguan flag, 80 x 50 inches, minor wear and soiling and several hundred photographs (official portraits, 8 x 10 prints, 3 x 5 color snapshots, contact prints, and more) of Somoza, the fight against the Sandinistas, and related topics. Provenance: purchased by the consignor from the Cox family.
