Albumen prints, 2 1/4x1 1/2 inches, mounted 4 per page recto/verso. Small 4to, green morocco with a gilt inscription in Longfellow's handwriting, edgewear, soiled; all edges gilt.<\t>1874

The album opens with a printed page identifyng each of the subjects and an "advertisement" from Will H. Brearley, Detroit, Michigan, who writes of the photographs' and autographs' importance in "aiding the study of physiognomy and chirography." Brearly further noted that "this collection [was] obtained by long and patient effort, extending over a period of ten years and involving an expense of several hundred dollars. . . . a limited number of copies are issued and will be furnished only on special order."<
