(NUCLEAR) A group of four panoramic atomic bomb testing photographs, including two sets of duplicates from the Bikini Atoll Baker Day blasts. In January 1946, a U.S. nuclear weapon mission dubbed Operation Crossroads began testing atomic bombs on the remote lagoon of Bikini Atoll. Automatic cameras were mounted in towers on the lagoon and Crossroad pilots flew photo specific planes at a safe distance to capture the detonation stages of two atomic explosions, the Baker Day and Able Day blasts. The photographs in this collection showcase stationary ground level shots of two stages of the Baker Day blast. Silver press prints, the images measuring 9x16 1/4 inches (22.9x41.3 cm.), and slightly smaller, one sheet slightly larger, each with dated press stamps, press clippings, and notations in pencil and ink on verso. 1946
