An unusual period album that highlights bare-bosomed Moroccan beauties, many of whose faces are decorated with tattoo-like henna designs. Additional photographs of western women rely on the conventions associated with the European-based academic nude study, both the classic 19th-, and early 20th-century variety. The fact that each of the subjects is identified suggests that the original owner knew these women personally. However, it is unclear whether his relationship was in the Biblical or imaginary sense. <
