Additional Details

Scarce monograph by Ungarelli, the first curator of the Egyptian Museum at the Vatican founded under Pope Gregory the 16th in 1839. The plates depict four-sided views of 11 monumental Egyptian obelisks relocated to Rome during ancient times. The schematic engravings of each pillar highlight their decorative hieroglyphs and are keyed to references in the descriptive text volume.
