number 41 of 105 copies signed by manzù, from a total edition of 114. designed by giovanni and martino mardersteig at the officina bodoni. After two failed attempts at a collaboration, Mardersteig noticed Manzù's sketches for costumes and decor for Stravinsky's Oedipus Rex, which included "a magnificent metre-high relief of the head of Oedipus" and soon an agreement on an edition of Sophocles's tragedy was reached. That wonderful image became the first etching as well as the relief image gracing its cover--Mardersteig 155; Barr 75.
