Additional Details

An interesting trove of local culture, mostly documenting performances by local actors and musicians. Several bear personal notes on the performers. For example, one of a series of professional photographs from an 1897 performance of Egyptia is captioned "Mrs. B.W. Jones, wife of Dr. Jones, dentist." 3 of the playbills date from the Civil War, for exhibitions at the Troy Grammar School from 1861 to 1863 which featured patriotic vignettes such as "Young America" and "Uncle Sam's Family." From the collection of Edwin M. Cosley (1869-1962) of Troy (see lot 87), whose signature appears on many pieces.
