Small folio, dark green morocco gilt by Bécourt, with lettering and triangular grape cluster design on front cover, spine in 6 compartments, lettered in 2 with grape cluster motif in the rest, red morocco doublures with gilt-stamped Arabic inscription, edges rubbed with slight loss, spot along bottom edge of front cover, scuffed as is rear cover; split between endpaper and title; internally sound. number 23 of only 26 copies or the ramazan edition on japan vellum, signed by bjerregaard, and with original hand watercoloring applied to the illustrations. Includes the complete text of the Fitzgerald translation of the Rubaiyat. The Danish-born Bjerregaard (1845-1922), who served on the staff of the Astor and New York Public Libraries, wrote several works on mysticism and occult and oriental philosophy. A beautiful production.
