first edition. An account of the St. Paul mission founded in 1844 by the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, a Belgian order. They were the first Catholic nuns to establish a mission in the northwest. Describes the supplies still needed by the fledgling mission. "Dates in the text reveal that it was printed in 1845, unless it appeared in December of 1844. A number of manuscript corrections appear in the text which have been made in the [1847] reissue" --Eberstadt catalogue, 167-414 (the only previous known sale record). Sabin 55988.
