Additional Details

Perhaps because of its title which suggests little content, this report is overlooked by the usual bibliographies. Nevertheless, it is an important contribution to the literature on the territory and includes a lengthy letter from Slacum to Secretary of State Forsyth describing the territory in detail. Linn in his 1838 report on the territory quotes liberally from Slacum's Memorial and refers to it as "replete with recent and authentic information."
