Bound volume of 138 tinted lithographed plates from the Senate and House issues of volume XII of the Pacific Railroad Report, covering the route from St. Paul to Puget Sound, near the 47th and 49th parallels. With 69 (of 70) plates from each issue bound facing each other. In all, 138 plates. 4to, early 1/2 morocco, minor wear; quite clean; lacks the plate of Sauk River. Washington, 1859-60

The first issue of the report by the Senate contains plates lithographed by Bien; the House issue plates were lithographed by Sarony, Major & Knapp. Besides variations in the lithographers, captions and plate numbers, most plates are tinted differently and with subtle changes in the placement of rocks, trees, etc. See Wagner-Camp 267:1 and 267:2.
