(PARACHUTE JUMP)
A 200-foot roll featuring hundreds of consecutively printed photographs, following the sequence of a parachutist's jump, from helicopter to touchdown.
Evocative of the then-thriving school of American conceptual photography, the roll begins with a portrait of the jumper, his eyes obscured behind an informational placard, closely followed by images of the man falling through the grey field of sky, subtly growing in size with each image until finally he lands and disappears among the overgrown airfield grassland. Silver prints, the individual images measuring 9 1/4x6 inches (23.5x15.2 cm.), the total roll 0.75x200 feet (0.2x60.9 m.), comprising two sections joined in the center with period tape. 1972

A behemoth of vernacular photographic production. The dry humor of the series summons comparative artists such as John Baldessari and Edward Ruscha, alongside notions of telescopic lunar photography.
