An all-American group of 18 patriotic photographs dating from the 19th to early 20th century, a few of them quite large, comprising 12 depicting American flags and 6 military images. With a large print of a hand-tinted "the living flag," a well-dressed baseball (?) team posing before a tent labeled "Monaca;" a boy dressed as a Union soldier, "haymakers of red men;" an unidientified politican shown between portraits of Washington and Lincoln; the Carpenter Building draped in bunting; young men in a fraternal organization perched on a portico; a boy standing by a blackboard printed with his name (Harold); and 2 studio tintypes; plus group portraits of West Point cadets, a fraternal organizations (the Knights of the Golden Eagle), a maritime ship's crew, and a reunion of many Civil War veterans. Albumen (2), printing-out paper (4), hand-tinted silver (one), silver (9), and tintypes (2), sizes ranging from 3 3/4x2 1/2 to 10 1/4x12 inches (9.5x6.4 to 26x30.5 cm.); all but 2 are mounted and one is framed. 1870s-1910s
