Edwin Wright Morgan (1814-1869) of Wysox, PA graduated from West Point in 1837 and reached the rank of colonel in a military career that included service in the Second Seminole War and the Mexican War. He later served as a mathematics professor at Lehigh University. Includes: 25 documents from his Seminole War service at Fort Picolata, FL with the 2nd United States Artillery in 1837-38, consisting mostly of lists of supplies issued to his regiment, one signed by his commanding officer, General Thomas Sidney Jesup 4 letters from state senator G.F. Mason regarding Morgan's Mexican War commission, 1846-47 2 personal letters to Morgan, 1831. with--5 additional letters to Morgan's father, Judge Harry Morgan, 1823-61, including a long political letter from congressman John Laporte, 1832.
