(PENNSYLVANIA.) Richards, Henry M. Map of Berks County. Hand-colored engraved map, 420x535 mm, trimmed to neat line on all sides; some scattered chipping at edges with minor loss, several stains, few closed tears, moderately toned overall; early linen backing, possibly original. Philadelphia, 1820

Additional Details

Created in accordance with an act of the Pennsylvania Legislature in 1816 mandating the preparation of a state map divided into counties. The famous Melish map was published in 1822 and is based on these mappings. Several of the county maps were individually published prior to 1822 and this map of Berks County dates to 1820. The map is in need of some restoration but could be made into a decent example with some care.
