A small group of papers from 4 generations of the Jordan family of Philadelphia, from Frederick Jordan (1744-1784) to banker sons John Jordan (1770-1845) and Frederick Jordan Jr. (1772-1861), to John's son Francis Jordan (1815-1886) to Francis's son Dr. John Woolf Jordan (1840-1921), librarian of the Historical Society of Pennsylvania. Highlights include Frederick's 1784 estate inventory listing "a negro man & a negro wench's time"; John W. Jordan's Civil War discharge, 1863; a pair of commissions issued to John W. Jordan's maternal grandfather John Lewis Woolf (1787-1850); an heraldic drawing by Charles J. Lukens; and several family letters and estate papers.
