Group of 7 portfolios, each containing 24 Signed prints. 2 sizes: Vols 7, 11-13 are 21x15 inches and contain prints of varying sizes but 482x330 mm; 19x13 inches on average. Vols 8-10 measure 27x21 inches and contain slightly larger prints measuring 610x418 mm; 24x16 1/2 inches. All plates loose, some additionally numbered. Printed for subscribers by Evans; Vols 7-10 with manuscript labels by Evans stating that the portfolio prints were specially collected for a friend (Neal Bozarth) in an edition series of only ten. Evans's beautiful, rich block prints of flowers and plants, hand-printed on his 1852 Washington Hand Press. Some are printed in single colors, others in multiple colors and many on colored or textured papers. As with each of his creations, the blocks were destroyed after the edition was printed. He selected each specimen, drew it from life, cut the blocks, and mixed each color by hand. The fascicles were made up of various sheets from the different print runs so they are numbered between 50 and 100. His coveted works are held by several museums and institutions.
