Additional Details

The photographs in this album predate the discovery of Machu Picchu and the coming of age of Martin Chambi who is one of Cuzco's best known photographers. At the turn of the century, Cuzco was home to two photography studios. One of these was run by a Peruvian native, Miguel Chani, the other by an Englishman. Very little is known about these photographers and few early photographs of Cuzco exist.
