Additional Details

Fred Ramsey Jr., jazz historian and producer/editor of a number of rural blues recordings, traveled through the Southern United States during the early 1950s. While collecting the music for a series of Folkways recordings, Ramsey took scores of photographs of the musicians and their friends and families. His book "Been Here and Gone" was a result of his trips to the South. Included here are five images from those trips, two of which are in the book.
