first edition, limited to 327 copies, signed by both peterkin and ulmann on the colophon, however lacking the extra plate. A sentimental remembrance of the old South, written by Peterkin, with 90 extraordinary photographs by Ulmann of a world that was fast disappearing in 1933 when this book was first published, and altogether gone today. The ninety plate are largely images of former slaves and their descendants on a plantation in the Gullah coastal region of South Carolina.
