Additional Details

number 160 of 220 copies signed by picasso from a total edition of 255. A sumptuous production printed at Aldo Crommelynck's atelier. Picasso illustrated these etchings and aquatints as homage to Reverdy's poem. Sable Mouvant (quicksand) is set in the desert and relates to a series of psychological struggles and hallucinations. Picasso's images elegantly depict the poet's intentions and transport the viewer from reality to expose the inner turmoil of a helpless man and his harsh surroundings.
