Group of 50 dynamic photographs, spanning several decades, depicting AP's wirephoto operations in New York, the Midwest, and London.
The photographs show the transition from early wirephoto equipment and scanners to high tech computers and electronic transmission. Includes opening day of AP wirephoto, transmission of images on site and in newsrooms, photographers in the field processing pictures, and busy news rooms populated with scores of reporters and editors. Silver prints, the images measuring 4 3/4x4 1/2 to 6 1/2x8 1/2 inches (10.8x11.4 to 16.5x21.6 cm.), and the reverse, the sheets slightly larger, most with caption information on verso; several are retouched. 1902-77
WITH--Group of 55 press photographs depicting operations at a local newspaper, the Spokesman-Review. With numerous production scenes of pressmen at work, the new Goss press, typesetters in the composing room, newspapers being packed, mailed or delivered, and more; plus 20 RC photographs of pressmen and heavy machinery. Silver and RC prints, the images mostly measuring 7x9 inches (17.8x22.9 cm.), and the reverse, with caption information on verso. 1930s-78.
