Additional Details

Includes some classic and well-known photos of Harding, particularly the "Vagabond" photos of Harding at camp in Maryland with Thomas Edison, Henry Ford, and Harvey Firestone. There is also a series of photos picturing the dedication of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, from its arrival in Washington on Admiral Dewey's old flagship "Olympia" to the laying of the wreath by Harding in Arlington. Another photo shows Harding at the dedication of the Lincoln Monument with Supreme Court Justice Howard Taft officiating. Harding was the first president to give a nationwide radio address and there are photos representing that event. The White House dog Laddie Boy gets a photo to himself. There are Real Photo postcard views at the back of the album picturing places Harding visited on a tour of the West shortly before his death - possibly suggesting that some of the photos were from Harding's personal collection. It seems that at a later date the album belong to Kenneth Riley.
Additional photos are from the first Byrd Antarctic expedition (some in postcard format), as well as photos of the crash of the dirigible "Shenandoah."
