Additional Details

"We the subscribers, electors for the state of Maryland . . . do hereby appoint Mr. Elie Vallette of the city of Annapolis to take charge of, and deliver to the president of the Senate of ye United States, one of the certificates of all the votes . . . for the President and Vice President." Vallette's work was non-controversial--all 8 of Maryland's electors ended up casting their votes to reelect the Washington-Adams ticket.
