Additional Details

Second edition, reading "The great demand for Mr. Adams's letter, since its publication, has induced us to make another impression of it." Prints a 13 March letter by Adams to Daniel Wright and Erastus Lyman, arguing against the division of the Union and against war with France or Great Britain. A long note explains how Adams has been underappreciated by his countrymen, in part because he "placed confidence in Pickering and Hamilton." Only one other example of this edition traced in OCLC (American Antiquarian Society); only one other copy of any edition traced at auction, a contemporary abridgement in 2004.
