An impressive early patriotic piece, boasting in the header that it was "executed with American materials," and depicting the young nation as the "temple of freedom." The copyright was issued on 15 January, and the header reads "eighth edition, June 1812," but no earlier editions are known. Reilly 1812-1, Shaw-Shoemaker 25079. Only 3 library copies traced, and no copy found at auction since Swann sold one for $30, 13 January 1949, lot 145.
