Additional Details

One of a series of broadsides attacking candidate Andrew Jackson for an incident from late in the War of 1812. Jackson had ordered the execution of 6 soldiers who tried to leave the service at the conclusion of their three-month term of enlistment. Jackson was running mainly on the strength of his war-hero resume, so these handbills were intended to undermine his main selling point. The strategy failed, as Jackson defeated John Quincy Adams. Shaw & Shoemaker 32473 is a later issue of this broadside, with the same title but the text expanded to four columns with the addition of text dated 20 January 1828.
