Additional Details

Satirizes the 1828 election and its aftermath as a biblical parable. The first lines: "Now it came to pass in the fourth year of the reign of John, who is also called Quincy, and whose surname is Adams. . . ." Chapter II recounts that "some declared for Andrew, who was a mighty man of valor, and a scourge, and a terror, to all the nations round about; howbeit he lacked wisdom, and regarded not the Laws of the Land." This is clearly an Adams-Jackson story, but we will not pretend to fully understand the fine points of the satire. We can trace no other examples of this curious text in OCLC or elsewhere.
