(PRESIDENTS--1838.) Collection of plates from a scarce anti-Jacksonian pamphlet. 7 (of 10) lithograph plates, each about 5 x 8 inches, two of them hand-colored, laid down along with unrelated newspaper clippings in part of a penmanship workbook; partly disbound. [New York: H.R. Robinson, 1838]

Additional Details

These plates come from an 1838 satire of Martin Van Buren's monetary policy, "The Vision of Judgment; or a Present for the Whigs." We can find no copy of the complete pamphlet at auction, so these plates are likely unfamiliar to collectors. They depict Van Buren and Andrew Jackson in a most unflattering light, with Van Buren shown as a small and rather demonic fox. Henry R. Robinson was the lithographer.
