(PRESIDENTS--1848 CAMPAIGN.) Whigs of the Paoli District, Last Rally! Letterpress broadside, 14 x 13 inches; toning, minor dampstaining and wear, small hole in text area, two text corrections in manuscript, mount remnants on verso. (MRS) West Chester, PA: Village Record, 27 October 1848

Additional Details

A broadside from a crucial battleground state in a close election. The Whig presidential candidate Zachary Taylor took the Pennsylvania electors with just 50.26% of the popular vote. If those 26 electors had gone to the Democrat Lewis Cass, Taylor would have lost the election. Provenance: Winter Associates to Milton R. Slater, 1984.
