(PRESIDENTS--1856 CAMPAIGN.) Stanton, David; calligrapher. Elaborate resolution of the Thirteenth Ward National Fillmore and Donelson Club. Ink on paper, 22 x 17 3/4 inches to sight; minimal soiling. With original tin presentation tube painted in white and gilt and reading "Hon. Millard Fillmore," 25 inches in length and 2 inches in circumference, moderate wear, and now housing a dowel and red, white and blue ribbon. The resolution not examined out of modern frame, which has loops to hold the original tube. New York, 4 March 1856

A resolution by A. Warren Smith offering support to the American / Know-Nothing Party candidates, resolving that "in Millard Fillmore and Andrew Jackson Donelson we, as Americans, have the best specimens of the old Whig and Democratic parties, chosen Chiefs from the Old Blocks." It concludes that "a copy of the above preamble and resolutions be suitably engraved and presented to Hon. Millard Fillmore."
