A jugate poster from McKinley's re-election campaign, showing off his new running mate Theodore Roosevelt. It contrasts the grim events of 1896 under Democratic rule with the prosperity brought about by McKinley's first term. The Panic of 1896 is illustrated with "A Run on the Bank" while under McKinley workers are lining up with sacks of money in "A Run to the Bank." Chained starving families illustrate "Spanish Rule in Cuba," while "American Rule in Cuba" features a public school, farms, and factories. At bottom is a quote from McKinley, "The American flag has not been planted in foreign soil to acquire more territory, but for humanity's sake."
