Manuscript in several colors of ink and gilt, 16 x 11 inches to sight, signed by club officers Charles J. O'Connor and George W. Dixon; light folds, not examined out of frame. Chicago, 12 April 1910

This document was created to present to Roosevelt upon his return to the New York after his long African-European adventure. It reproduces the text of the club's resolution: "Whereas Theodore Roosevelt, author, statesman, and former president, will return to his native land next June after an extended and notable trip abroad . . . resolved, that this club go to New York City to join in the reception to be given him upon his arrival; and be it further resolved that this club hereby extends an invitation to Colonel Roosevelt to come to Chicago as the guest of this club." Roosevelt did accept the invitation, and appeared at the club that following 8 September.
