Additional Details

The Progressive Party, also known as the Bull Moose Party, was an important factor in the 1912 election, with their founder and presidential candidate finishing second ahead of the Republican incumbent Taft. In 1916, their second national convention was held in Chicago. They attempted to re-nominate Roosevelt, but he declined and threw his support behind the Republicans. The party quickly collapsed.
This logo features the party's Bull Moose mascot and one of Roosevelt's favorite Abraham Lincoln quotes: "With firmness in the right, as God gives us to see the right." The creator, Cecil Clark Davis (1877-1955), was a pioneering female artist from Chicago.
