Additional Details

For Eisenhower's second term, 20 January fell on a Sunday, so the inaugural festival was held the day before, and the formal public inauguration was held on 21 January. The festival, which included prominent entertainers such as Abbott & Costello and Pat Boone, was held at Uline Arena, later known as the Washington Coliseum. These colorful podium designs are by builder and decorator Samuel Asch (1888-1958) of New York, whose firm had handled other inaugurations going back to Taft. with--a 1953 inaugural festival program.
