Additional Details

Early American papermakers often issued a printed wrapper to protect the reams of blank paper they offered for sale. These are now rarely seen on the market. Ira White (1789-1886) made paper in rural Wells River, east of Montpelier, from about 1815 to 1849. This wrapper for his "One ream Cap, No. 1" is illustrated with an eagle above a decorative border.
