An album with 85 photographs documenting the interiors and exteriors of prison buildings, cells, and architecture across the United States, including Texas, Kansas, Wisconsin, California, New York, Virginia, and more, likely from the manufacturer of the cells and other iron work fittings; with a printed list laid in titled "Notable Jails and Prisons, The Stewart Iron Works Company, Cincinnati, Ohio, Engineers and Builders of Jail and Prison Work, Steel Cells, Experts in Locking Devices and Jail Construction." Silver prints, each measuring approximately 7 1/2x9 1/2 inches (19.1x24.1 cm.), and smaller, and the reverse, each mounted recto only to linen, with the name and location of the prison, in ink, on recto. Oblong 4to, corduroy over leather with metal fittings in the backstrip and the gilt-lettered title "Jail Department," worn. Circa 1910
