Includes sample plates, pages, and prospectuses for 20 different books, ranging from Crosby's "Life of Abraham Lincoln" to Watson's "Heroic Women of History" to Baker's "Secret Service in the Late War." The cover is from Burdett's "Life of Kit Carson," with the backstrip laid down on the front endpaper, and a "Ten Nights in a Bar-Room" backstrip laid down on the rear endpaper. The printed title page issued by the Cincinnati Publishing Company reads "The Combination Prospectus, Comprising Specimen Pages of Twenty Highly Instructive and Entertaining Books." However, all of the books seem to have been published by J.E. Potter of Philadelphia. Two subscribers have committed their money on the subscription list at the end of the volume, both of them from Logan County, OH.
